About me
I am a 20-year-old lady from Casablanca, the economic
capital of Morocco. I am happily married. I like to
discover other cultures, customs and traditions. The
purpose of this website is to present an overview of
the Moroccan culture and society.
Casablanca
Construction of the port started in 1934 and finished in 1938. Then the port of Casablanca had the following infrastructure: waterplane, harbours, embankment and docks for merchant ships. In 1980, construction began of a new jetty and 100 hectares dedicated to container activity. The East container terminal started operating in 1996.
The port today is protected by Moulay Youssef jetty whose length is 3,180 mtr and a cross jetty of 1,140 mtr length. The port is considered to be the international port of Kingdom of Morocco, and also the main trade port. It has several advantages - the geographic location, being at the hub of main maritime transport roads; the rich economic hinterlands; the nautical capacities; the railroad and road networks; the ability to adjust to modern technology in the field of sea transport and handling. Finally, the port of Casablanca has another strength which is the human factor. The total of 605 hectares and 7 km of docks allows the port to start an investment programme in order to improve productivity while developing high technology equipment. Port traffic amounts to 17m tons (containers, ro-ro, liquid bulk and solid builk) which represents 37% of the national traffic. Besides trade activities, the port has a fishery port, ship repair yard and a marina.
Casablanca is the financial and economic capital of Morocco - it is a city of challenges and is located in the hub of air and maritime traffic.
The most interesting places to visit are: La Nouvelle Medina (Quartier des Habous), Ancienne Medina, Place Mohamed V, Place des Nations Unies, Parc de la Ligue Arabe, La Corniche, La Mosquee Hassan II
About moroccan meals
The Moroccan meals change from city to city; we even bake the couscous differently from one region to another. I've published some easy, popular and tasty recipes here for the beginners. You can bake and serve them to your family and rejoice in the happy reaction they'd elicit!
